Wir schreiben die quadratische Gleichung faktorisiert

(x+1)(x−2)=0.

Wir sehen, dass die Gleichung erfüllt ist, wenn x=−1 oder x=2. Erweitern wir die linke Seite, erhalten wir

x2−x−2=0.

Eine Funktion ist also (x+1)(x−2)=0 oder x2−x−2=0.


Hinweis: Eigentlich gibt es unendlich viele Funktionen mit den Wurzeln -1 und 2, nämlich alle Funktionen

ax2−ax−2a=0

wobei a=0 eine beliebige Konstante ist.
