Damit man die p q Formel anwenden kann, muss der Koeffizient, der vor x2steht, 1 sein. Also dividieren wir die Gleichung durch 3 und erhalten: x2+3−10x+38=0

nach der p-q-Formel gilt:

x=−2p2p2−q 

Hier ist p=3−10 und q=38. Also hat die Gleichung folgende Lösungen:

x=−3−5+3−52−(38)=2 

und

x=−3−5−3−52−(38)=34
